As I continue to seek understanding of people and situations I know nothing about THIS book sort of rocked my world. Then I realized it was written for “young readers” – hahahah! Explains why I finished it in 1 day. Oh well, great read especially for youngsters who want to a live a rare life.
An incredible book but for a very specific type of person. It’s not a how to book as much as a description or disclosing a mind-set that warriors have. Although the book is written for soliders you can apply the information to elite teams in any walk of life including family, business or athletics.
19 words that describe my life. Especially “…disowning fear…”
This is a really awesome, simply and short read. It was a gift from very dear friends Sandy and Deanne Stephens. It was about a guy who lost his way in life and then embarked on a quest to rediscover himself. I love these kinds of short stories and the role they have in my reading. Here’s what I mean: I read some HEAVY stuff and then to offset that kind of energy I need uplifting energy. The Ying and the Yang.
HIGHLY recommended! Thx Mama & Sandman 🙂
A very interesting book. I liked it, learned alot of new information but he and I don’t agree on a few things. However this I know: if you stick with people like you, you’ll never learn about yourself. You’ve got to be exposed to different thoughts, ideas and concepts to solidify your own. His understanding of money and the issues that plague our country is deep, this book is definitely worth the read.
I always knew I’d go back to animals but thought it would be marine mammals. Now I’m not so sure. Incredible work being done with these dogs!
“It is hard to overemphasize the importance of discipline in accounting for variations in economic success. But let me say that if you lack discipline, the chances of your ever accumulating wealth are very, very small.” ~ Dr. Thomas Stanley
Chapter 3 of this book, School Days is by itself worth the price of the book. It talks about what happened in school to mold people of high economic success later in life. It’s a particularly important for parents of school age kids. In UBER IMPORTANT for Kim and I as we gear up for year 1 of homeschooling both big kids.
Sometimes I think I’m being led by an unseen force that guides me to the areas I have questions about, early enough so I can make good choices. I also think I know what the unseen force is 🙂
A great friend of mine (Marc Middleton) did a radio interview on their show with a neurosurgeon named Dr. Eben Alexander. Not only was it a great interview he talked about his new book, so I bought it and am reading it right now.
The interesting thing about this book is that this guy is a HARD CORE scientist who saw inexplicable things connecting science to spirituality. Normally those two things have no connection but Dr. Alexander takes you to a higher place. 3/4ths of the way through I’m finding that this is a mind opening book, I highly recommend it.
“Om understands and sympathizes with our human situation more profoundly and personally than we can even imagine because Om knows what we have forgotten, and understands the terrible burden it is to live with amnesia of the Divine for even a moment.” Page 86 I think this is the reason I was always drawn to endurance sports and never had a run in with drugs or bad things, during a work out or racing my amnesia was temporarily gone. Same thing happens when I play with the kids, I mean really stop and just play – not teach, not show them anything – just play. Maybe it’s all connected.
This book was recommended to me by a champion in my life, Jesse Reynolds. If you sense something is wrong with our government, you’ll learn what the issues are in this book. Powerful read but it will make you angry.
I just finished this book, very thought provoking and simple in it’s message. I have been alive 16,802 days and I shudder to think how much of that time I have senselessly wasted!
For anyone who doesn’t quite understand me, this is a photo of page 41, The State Of Intensity and it explained me to me very clearly 🙂
So here’s the real question what are YOU intense about??? I know what I’m intense about.
