Stay Smooth

This is the profile of today’s workout. In Orange Theory Fitness lingo it was a workout called IT during Hell Week. In normal people speak it was hard because all the intervals were 60 seconds of work and 30 seconds of recovery. During the 60 second interval you were either rowing, running (or in my case cycling), doing burpees or a dumb bell movement. Then you moved stations and then got 15 seconds. As you might know a “Splat point” is a measure of the after burner effect (my explanation) and today I got 43 minutes.  I got that many because I was rested and am an extremely efficient athlete; here’s what I did:

  • When I knew the first interval was 60 seconds long I decided that I had to pick a lighter weight.  Heavier weight would kill my ability to “put out” on the rowing machine.
  • I was very conservative in the acceleration of getting

Friday, June 2, 2017 to Thursday, June 8, 2017
I am writing this from a hotel room in Maryland at 9:47 am on Friday, June 9.  The last week has been a nightmare so I decided to just consolidate the relevant info into this 1 post.  First of all WLC finished for me yesterday after the 8:15 am class and my finishing weight was 198.2 lbs.  Although I started at 230# on April 22, I didn’t weigh in at OTF until April 26 when I was 224.4#

Friday, June 2 – Day 33
OTF in the morning with Sarah and burned 832 calories.

I had 4 meals each in the 575 calorie range.
For the day I burned 2,073 calories.
I took in 2,312 calories.
The net deficit was -239 calories.

Thursday, June 1, 2017 – Day 32
Aikido in the morning and burned 274 calories.  I moved very well and felt awesome!!!  I was super hungry last night after my last meal and Kim had me take 6 Catalyst and water.  It helped.

I had 4 meals each in the 575 calorie range b/c because meal 1 was too low in calories I had a snack.  So 5 eating points.
For the day I burned 2,782 calories.
I took in 2,263 calories.
The net deficit was 519 calories.
I slept 6:37
I drank 117 oz of water.
Bottom line – Today was a win.

Wednesday, May 31, 2017 – Day 31
OTF in the morning burned 772 calories and got 6 splat points.   Same deal as yesterday, lost and confused on my food.  Ended up cooking another 3 hours 🙁

I had 4 meals each in the 575 calorie range.
For the day I burned 2,818 calories.
I took in 2,098 calories.
The net deficit was 720 calories.
I slept 6:52
I drank 106 oz of water.
Bottom line – Today was a win.

Tuesday, May 30, 2017 – Day 30
OTF in the morning burned 771 calories and 4 splat points.  I think my lowered state of energy was being simply depleted.  Kim went to Joey’s funeral so I was mr. mom.  B/c Jeremy was closed last week I had to cook and holy crap that takes so much time!!!!  I cooked for 3 hours and my legs and back killed.  After picking Amira up from swim practice we went to Publix before picking up big kids from practice.  I was in Publix when my food alarm went off and my blood sugar caved.  I ended up eating 8 oz of Salmon and 2 cups of blue berries.  And I was in hog freaking heaven!!!  I miss fruit bad 🙁

Monday, May 29, 2017 – Day 29
OTF in the morning burned 868 calories.  Then wake surfed in the afternoon.  Then Aikido at night and burned 622.  This was also the first day I modified my eating – hard, hard, hard day.  I don’t remember much of it.

I had 5 meals each in the 480 calorie range, although I ran out of time to eat breakfast and was around 250 calories.
For the day I burned 3,672 calories.
I took in 2,082 calories.
The net deficit was 1,590 calories.
I slept 7:12
I drank 121 oz of water.
Bottom line – Today was ok.  Very drained.

Sunday, May 28, 2017 – Day 28
OTF in the morning burned 868 calories.  Then wake surfed my ass off all day long.

I had 5 meals each in the 480 calorie range, although I ran out of time to eat breakfast and was around 250 calories.
For the day I burned 3,301 calories.
I took in 2,733 calories.  Botched it up and had 2 PN peanut butter bars
The net deficit was 568 calories.
I slept 7:33
I drank 96 oz of water.
Bottom line – Today was win.

Saturday, May 27, 2017 – Day 27
No workout as I was in the Leadership Retreat all day.  Had no energy after it was done but was starving before bed.

I had 5 meals each in the 480 calorie range.
For the day I burned 2,711 calories.
I took in 2,303 calories.
The net deficit was 408 calories.
I slept 7:25
I drank 81 oz of water.
Bottom line – Today was a win.

Friday, May 26, 2017 – Day 26
Leadership Retreat starts tonight.  OTF with my Sarah burned 866 but distracted b/c I was working on my training – Building The Belief Muscle.  Everything turned out fine.

I had 5 meals each in the 480 calorie range.
For the day I burned 3,211 calories.
I took in 2,066 calories.
The net deficit was 1,145  calories.
I slept 4:09 b/c we went out on the boat until 1:30 am
I drank 110 oz of water.
Bottom line – Today was a win.

Thursday, May 25, 2017 – Day 25
I’m pissed.  I have a 5% weight loss right now and there’s a guy at 7.96% loss.  I should have delayed my “weight loss attack” by 1 week.  Here’s what I did:  I got home from Norway on 4/22 and weighed 230.  On 4/27 OTF weighed me and I weighed 224.6!!!!   That’s basically 6 lbs loss I didn’t get credit for. I have 14 days to finish this thing and and I’m to finish strong.  Aikido in the morning and burned 170 calories and OTF in the evening and burned 869 calories.

I had 5 meals each in the 480 calorie range, although I ran out of time to eat breakfast and was around 250 calories.
For the day I burned 2,939 calories.
