2011 Physical Goals: Mission Accomplished

January 1, 2012 in Uncategorized

My goal for 2011 was to do the following:

  • 25,000 Push Ups
  • 52,000 Sit Ups
  • 6,000 Miles on the bike

The mission is officially accomplished! I knocked out 26,454 Push Ups, 52,748 and 6,000.8 miles on the bike. It was definitely a mental and physical stretch but the thing that almost killed it was the travel schedule. After April I traveled ALOT and it impacted my routine in a big way. I was also fascinated at how many people I know also set goals that were similar.

I owe a huge thank you to Yvette & David Sanborn of David’s World Cycle for loaning me the bike that made this possible.

My 2012 goals are due by 12/31/12 and are:

  • 25,000 Push Ups
  • 52,000 Sit Ups
  • 1,000 Burpees
  • 500 Pull Ups
  • 1,000,000 Meters rowing on a Concept 2

What kind of physical goals do you have?

Read this at your own risk – it’s about money

February 8, 2011 in Uncategorized

I’ve been getting into some recent discussions about money.  Not necessarily making money but how to preserve, invest and grow what you already have.  I’m very tight lipped about this subject b/c it’s highly non-duplicatible AND somewhat scary.

@Kimberly Buttar and I don’t have a savings account, IRA’s, 401K’s, SEP IRA’s or any kind of money manager.  We also don’t believe in the tooth fairy, santa claus, US Monetary Policy or the that the governments will / wants to take care of us.

We follow guides like Robert Kiyosaki and David Novac, movies like Inside Job and utilize “non-traditional” methods of growing what we make.  Some  of these “non-traditional” methods are:

If you believe that you will have more money at any point in your life, the next question will become (if it hasn’t already) how do I keep more of what I make?  How can I pass on what I make?  By far the most helpful resource has been Elevation Group b/c of the how to’s.

Good luck!

Great Parable (???) from Bob Lipscomb

February 2, 2011 in Uncategorized

A successful business man was growing old and knew it was time to choose a successor to take over the business.

Instead of choosing one of his Directors or his children, he decided to do something different. He called all the young executives in his company together.

He said, “It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO. I have decided to choose one of you. “The young executives were Shocked, but the boss continued. “I am going to give each one of you a SEED today – one very special SEED. I want you to plant the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from the seed I have given you.
I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one
I choose will be the next CEO.”

One man, named Jim, was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went home and excitedly, told his wife the story. She helped him get a pot, soil and compost and he planted the seed. Everyday, he would water it and watch to see if it had grown. After about three weeks, some of the other executives began to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow.

Jim kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew.

Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by, still
nothing.

By now, others were talking about their plants, but Jim didn’t have a plant and he felt like a failure.

Six months went by — still nothing in Jim’s pot. He just knew he had killed his seed. Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but he had nothing. Jim didn’t say anything to his colleagues, however, he just kept watering and fertilizing the soil – He so wanted the seed to grow.

A year finally went by and all the young executives of the company brought their plants to the CEO for inspection.

Jim told his wife that he wasn’t going to take an empty pot. But she asked him to be honest about what happened. Jim felt sick to his stomach, it was going to be the most embarrassing moment of his life, but he knew his wife was right. He took his empty pot to the board room. When Jim arrived, he was amazed at the variety of plants grown by the other executives. They were beautiful — in all shapes and sizes. Jim put his empty pot on the floor and many of his colleagues laughed, a few felt sorry for him!

When the CEO arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted his young executives.

Jim just tried to hide in the back. “My, what great plants, trees and flowers you have grown,” said the CEO. “Today one of you will be appointed the next CEO!”

All of a sudden, the CEO spotted Jim at the back of the room with his empty pot. He ordered the Financial Director to bring him to the front. Jim was terrified. He thought, “The CEO knows I’m a failure! Maybe he will have me fired!”

When Jim got to the front, the CEO asked him what had happened to his seed – Jim told him the story.

The CEO asked everyone to sit down except Jim. He looked at Jim, and then announced to the young executives, “Behold your next Chief Executive Officer!

His name is Jim!” Jim couldn’t believe it. Jim couldn’t even grow his seed.

“How could he be the new CEO?” the others said.

Then the CEO said, “One year ago today, I gave everyone in this room a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled seeds; they were dead – it was not possible for them to grow.

All of you, except Jim, have brought me trees and plants and flowers. When you found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Jim was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore, he is the one who will be the new Chief Executive Officer!”

  • If you plant honesty, you will reap trust
  • If you plant goodness, you will reap friends
  • If you plant humility, you will reap greatness
  • If you plant perseverance, you will reap contentment
  • If you plant consideration, you will reap perspective
  • If you plant hard work, you will reap success
  • If you plant forgiveness, you will reap reconciliation

So, be careful what you plant now; it will determine what you will reap later.

Think about this for a minute….

How a Champion is built on the inside

September 17, 2010 in Uncategorized

From a song called Voice of Truth by a band called Casting Crows.

But the waves are calling out my name
and they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times
I’ve tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
time and time again
“Boy, you’ll never win,
You you’ll never win

A Champion is built hearing this in their mind every single day of their lives.  And going 1 more round every single day of their lives.

Are you ready to be a Champion today?  I am.

FACTS about the Taiji drive fisheries in Japan

September 13, 2010 in Uncategorized

Mark is a friend of mine from my days as an animal trainer at Sea World.  Please read, click and respond if it resonates with you.  Thx in advance.  z

Subject: Please take action on “Rescind “The Cove” Oscar Award”!

Dear friends:

Please take the time to consider the following petition: Rescind “The Cove” Oscar Award

You can view this petition at: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/8/the-truth-about-Japan-dolphins/

This petition was created in the interest of promoting the FACTS about the Taiji drive fisheries in Japan.  The feature film “The Cove” has done a great disservice to the cause of ending this senseless slaughter by convincing its audience that the drive is created and sustained by marine life parks worldwide.  This is categorically false…moreover, the fraudulent claims made in “The Cove” blatantly conceal from the viewing public the real reasons for the slaughter.

The deception perpetrated in “The Cove” is also insulting to the thousands of dedicated professionals worldwide that live their lives day-in and day-out caring for marine animals in many types of environments.  Stand proud of your contribution to marine life awareness and help us send this important message today.

I’m asking you to sign this petition to help us reach our goal of 200,000 signatures. I care deeply about this cause, and I hope you will support this effort.

Please forward this information on to anyone and everyone you know.  You may also wish to post the links on your Facebook, MySpace and Youtube accounts.  If you would like to go that “extra mile,” please list the petition link on blogs, forums and in as many “tweets” as you can.

A “widget” link to the Petition is also available to post on your website.  For the html code, please e-mail msimmons@oceanembassy.com.

Thanks for your support and best regards.

Mark
